The key point of this program is to make volunteers aware of the Plagiarism Guidelines as a useful tool for handling cases of alleged plagiarism. The program encourages volunteers who are responsible for any IEEE publication (journals, magazines, books, and conference proceedings) to use the Guidelines when plagiarism complaints are received.

As a publisher and a concerned corporate citizen, IEEE is keenly aware of the seriousness of plagiarism, and has been taking steps to address this still-growing problem. The first and foremost response to handling plagiarism complaints has been to develop a set of Guidelines to ensure that all reported cases are treated fairly and consistently across all of IEEE?s Societies. Since their inception in 2004, the Guidelines have been used effectively to resolve all of the reported complaints.
