IEEE’s mission to foster technological innovation and excellence to benefit humanity requires the talents and perspectives of people with different personal, cultural, and disciplinary backgrounds.

Professional societies and conferences can wield a large influence on people’s careers between publishing papers, appointing people to committees, and increasing visibility of the members. Many professional societies and conferences mimic the broader issues of historically excluded people in engineering, though. Recently, many conferences and professional societies have included diversity, equity and inclusion chairs within their scope to increase the participation of a diverse group of individuals. In this talk, panelists will discuss their work increasing representation within their communities IEEE further promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the IEEE and the engineering profession through the TAB Committee on Diversity and Inclusion(CDI) which is responsible for ensuring that TAB policies, procedures, and practices are conducive to creating and maintaining a diverse and inclusive environment that is valuable for all members. Nanotechnology Council encourages Women in Nanotechnology (WIN)/WIE Committee and supports DEI efforts. In 2022, WIN Pledges with IEEE WIE to support diversity equity and inclusion(DEI), which is beyond gender to ethnicity/age/etc. Supporting to break the bias. In this context, WIN Committee Chair take the initiative to have a virtual round table discussions to understand the model of DEI and its implementation with the leaders. -Fabrizio Lombardi, IEEE NTC President -Kanika Singh, IEEE NTC Women in Nanotechnology Chair -Jenifer Castillo R., IEEE WIE (Women in Engineering) Chair -Dalma Novak, IEEE Technical Activities Board (TAB) Committee on --Diversity and Inclusion (CDI) Chair
